End Of Golden Days For The Pakistani Players???
Well, finally the Pakistani cricket team is back to playing cricket. And the first one day international between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is about to start in a few hours. I wonder as to what would be going on in the minds of the Pakistani players who have gone without playing even a singe match at home, be it a test or a one day international or a T20 for that matter. Finally, the Pakistani players will have to bend their backs, after getting up early in the morning unlike until today. Once again, the Pakistani players will have to go for a practice at the nets. And, even the fans aren’t spared either for they’ll have to go buying tickets and start waving the green flag once again.
Once again, the Pakistani players will have to leave their hometown and go elsewhere to play cricket. Once again, the Pakistani players will have to miss their dearest wives and kids and get bugged by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the coach as well. So would be the wives of these cricketers who would be touring other states owing to their cricket tour. Would have the Pakistani players got fed up of their year long rest or do they still need some more rest? Well..if it is the latter, and with today’s political situation in Pakistan under consideration, even a fire cracker would be just fine to once again leave the Pakistani cricketers go on an indefinite rest. Just Kidding!!!
I wish a few Pakistani cricketers would be back with a bang to face the new challenge, with a few others to be back into making onfield controversies. Is Shoaib Akthar included in the squad? Ooooops!!! And, the remaining lot would be just cursing them for bringing an end to their rest and the enjoyment they’d been having for a year with their WAGS (wives & girlfriends) or WAKS (wives & kids). But, where do the Pakistani players get the money from, when there was recession in the country’s cricketing ties? How can the players pay their credit card bills, when the factory they were working is ‘Locked-out’? Enough of Kidding hah!
Coming to the serious aspect, it is indeed nice to see the Pakistan team back in the hunt. For, they were not the ones who planted bombs and responsible for the political dilemma in Pakistan. It was not the Pakistani players who created an insecure situaion in Pakistan which forced every other country including India to think otherwise when it came to touring Pakistan. And I’m sure that none of the Pakistani cricketers would have wanted a year to go without playing cricket. It is good that atleast three one day matches would be played if not five or seven. And regarding the test series, more chances of the test series also taking off smoothly.
Hopefully, we can see Shoaib Akthar breaking the willow and Salman Butt being the ‘but’ factor for the opposition. Once again there would be Misbah keeping the fans guessing regarding the match result. The world cannot afford to lose another test playing nation after Zimbabwe was denied test status in 2005.
