Something Uncalled For

Published by cricket24x7 at 11:26 am under Uncategorized Edit This

The second edition of the Indian Premier League is about to begin in a couple of months. But, as usual, things are bowed to controversies, like the players from Pakistan were initially not allowed to participate in the second edition for reasons well known. Whether it is a good move or a bad one from the point of view of the Indian part is currently out of discussion for the moment. But, now a fresh news says that the PCB has given a nod for its players to participate in the league conducted by their rebel country. A no objection certificate has been given to its players to play in the IPL by the PCB.

Well that is no an issue at all. But, will the Indian counterparts compromise with their decision and allow the Pakistani players to play? May be to a greater extent. For, this is what the BCCI has been doing since the day its been having a mike in its hand. First declare something officially and later on contradict the same. It is yet to be discovered as to what the BCCI or the IPL gats out of such things. Pakistan has been the most controversial team in today’s cricketing world. Thanks to players like Shoaib Akthar and Mohd Asif. And Younis Khan and Mohd Yousuf in the ICl.

It was not too long ago that Pakistani recruit Abdul Razzak had said once that the Indo-Pak tension may keep Pakistani players out of IPL and ICL . I wonder whether the Indian counterparts hasyet again returned to their old ways of forgetting whatever happened in the recent past. That is the terror strikes in Mumbai on 26/11? Its shrude disappointing that India still wants to have ties wth Pakistan when there has been no support for the Indians on the other side of the border-be it cricket or something else. Anyway, whether the Pakistani players will be playing in the second edition of the IPL or not is a different issue.

And another news being that this time, the IPL committee has fixed a limit of $2M at the most for any team sponsorer. Just rubbish I can say. For, it is believed that someone like England’s Kevin Pietersen has been bought for $ 1.3 million. So,  with the remaining $0.7 million, which other player can be bought and if bought, will he be of any use if not warm the benches or at the most become a scapegoat when given a chance in case? By issuing such limits, the IPL authorities have put brakes on the number of players who can be auctioned. Something funny and uncalled for isn’t it?
